The Alaska Energy Authority (AEA), Southwest Alaska Municipal Conference (SWAMC), and Information Insights have teamed up to formulate a concrete, regional energy plan for the Kodiak region. This is part of a statewide effort being led and supported by the AEA. The goal is to provide recommendations for activities and actions to help reduce the long-term cost of power and energy, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and improve the efficiency of current energy systems in the region. Each planning effort will include regional stakeholders, evaluate alternatives and provide a prioritized action plan of projects.
The project is organized in three phases:
Phase I – Preliminary Planning, Resource Inventory & Data Collection
Phase II – Community Outreach, Energy Summit, & Project Priorities
Phase III – Technical & Economic Analysis, Energy Plan
This is an effort to partner with the state and produce a document that can help decision-makers at the local level.
